Magnetic flux penetration and AC loss in a composite superconducting wire with ferromagnetic parts
نویسنده
چکیده
The current distribution and the AC loss in a composite superconducting tape containing a layer from magnetic material is calculated and compared with experiments, showing a very good agreement. The situations of an alternating uniform applied field or a transport current are studied. The newly developed numerical model is an approximation to the critical state model, adapted for the applicability to commercial finite elements codes that solve the vector potential. Substantial feature of this procedure is that it can be carried out in the case when the critical current density in superconductor depends on the magnetic field and the magnetic layer material is nonlinear. Additionally, the hysteresis loss in the magnetic material is estimated, based on its measured magnetization loops. Measurements on Bi-2223 multifilamentary tapes covered on edges by nickel confirmed our predictions, showing a substantial ac loss reduction in both the investigated regimes. Influence of Ferromagnetic Layer on Critical Current of a Superconducting Wire
We investigated how a 10–50 μm layer from soft ferromagnetic material, incorporated in the architecture of a composite superconducting tape, could influence the capability of the tape to transport electrical current. Numerical procedure was developed to calculate the local distribution of magnetic field and current in the condition when all the superconductor is carrying its critical current de...
متن کاملThree-dimensional calculations of the magnetic fields in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder in an applied axial magnetic field
In this study, a set of self-consistent coupled-integral equations for the local magnetic flux and current distributions in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder under an axial magnetic field has been directly derived by using the Biot-Savart law within the framework of the critical-state model. The equations were first solved numerically in the three-dimensional space before obtaining the h...

Magnetic abrasive finishing can be classified as a non-traditional super finishing method for finishing surfaces with different shapes and working materials like flat plates, shafts, bearings parts, screws, tubes and many other mechanical parts that need good surface finishing properties. MAF is effective in polishing, cleaning, deburring and burnishing metal parts. The most important parameter...

In this paper, we investigate the superconducting proximity effect for a superconductor with three types of singlet, OSP and ESP triplet pairings in contact with a clean ferromagnetic region. Using the quasiclassical Green’s function approach, we calculate the superconducting pair amplitude function in terms of the characteristic parameters of the system and compare penetration of these superco...
متن کاملDecoherence in a superconducting ring
A superconducting ring has different sectors of states corresponding to different values of the trapped magnetic flux; this multitude of states can be used for quantum information storage. If a current supporting a nonzero flux is set up in the ring, fluctuations of electromagnetic field will be able to “detect” that current and thus cause a loss of quantum coherence. We estimate the decoherenc...
